Obstetric-Neonatal Complications of Gestational Diabetes: A Systematic Review

Analyse the evidence provided regarding neonatal and obstetric complications derived from gestational diabetes. A systematic search of scientific literature, PUBMED, ScienceDirect was carried out with various strategies guaranteeing completeness reproducibility phases PRISMA guide. 13 studies were included, 10 simultaneously evaluated complications, rest (3) only complications. The prevalence GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus) 12.5% (65,852 527,351) Obstetric include: emergency caesarean section (OR 1.1 to 2.37), preeclampsia an OR range 2.96, prematurity 2.3). most frequent are: macrosomia 1.2 5.2, a 10.3%; while hypoglycaemia is one highest risk 3.19-11.97), other include greater height for age 1.3 3.43; perinatal asphyxia 1.2-3.4); shoulder dystocia 1.3-2.56); respiratory distress 1.3-2) hyperbilirubinemia 1.02-1.39). No increased death found, reported 0.7-0.8. Both are very prevalent may require intensive care, being highly relevant public health problem. Although efficient screen early detection has been established, efforts required comply it avoid these complications.
